| | Description | These chimes are small, but they pack a big punch. They'll add wonderful music to your garden, kitchen, dorm room or patio. Wood top with 1" capiz shells . Thirty round shells, five square. Capiz shells come from pearl oysters, commonly known as kapis. These shellfish are farmed in Indonesia and every bit of the oyster is used. The shells are carefully sorted, dried, sliced, shaped, sanded and dyed. Strung together with strong, invisible, nylon cord, the thin, flat translucent shells provide luminous color. And, when touched by the wind, these chimes produce a delicate tinkling musical sound. In the 1500s, these shells were used as windowpanes in houses; now they are used in all sorts of home decorations, including lamp shades, vases and, of course, windchimes! of course, windchimes! | |

Pretty, with clinking sound Apr 21, 2009
By M. Heiss This is very pretty and just what we ordered. This year it is the preschooler's turn to decide where we hang all the wind chimes, so this is hanging in the (very exposed, south-facing) garden among the hibiscus plants. The blue is very soft and translucent, a nice contrast to the vibrancy of that garden. I like the clinking sound the capiz makes. Very good price and quality. (If it had been my year to decide where to hang all the windchimes, I would have hung this in a more protected spot because it is delicate and looks like it will blow away in a strong wind. But so far, it has been fine where it is, and I suspect it is more sturdy than it looks.)
Fifth star withheld because the hanging hook is so small. You will need an S-hook to hang it from a standard shepherd's hook or bracket.
*** updated August 31, 2009 *** These chimes survived the Phoenix summer. Still in great shape, despite wind storms and constant sun. Still nice!
*** updated January 2011 *** This is the day I finally tossed the chimes. They lasted a good long time, but in the end the fishing line became brittle in the sun and wind, and it disintegrated. I plan to buy more. We really liked them.

Nice chimes, but mislabled Dec 05, 2009
By Ellen Morris I ordered this wind chime for my mother in law for Christmas. I searched purple wind chimes and this is what came up and I thought it was beautiful so I bought it. I like the chimes and still plan on giving it as a gift, but it is not purple, at least not the shade shown in the sample photo. The color it is titled is Raspberry, but I would describe it as a light brown instead of purple or raspberry. I still like the chimes, they are beautifully made and have a nice sound, just not purple.

News for the buyer Feb 05, 2010

Asli Arts Collection C129 Mini Raspberry Capiz Chime This is a beautiful chime, with a lovely sound. HOWEVER, the seller listed this chime as 13 inches. It is, in fact, EIGHT+HALF INCHES, with a FOUR INCH STRING HANGER. This is false advertising. I'm sure most of us would buy i anyway even knowing its true size.

Very disappointing. Jul 13, 2011

I've ordered many wind chimes from Amazon, mostly from Woodstock Chimes and have been pleased with all of my purchases. I also have ordered from other vendors such as Paolo Soleri and a few others so I know a little bit about quality wind chimes. But this wind chime from Asli Arts was a total disapointment from top to bottom. For one thing the chimes were poorly packaged - literally wrapped in tissue paper which offers little if any protection. The piece looked like it had been thrown into the Amazon box almost as an afterthought. All of my other wind chimes are packed in the company's box very securely and then placed in the Amazon box with plastic air bags offering additional protection. And there was nothing else in the tissue paper from this vendor - no literature, no information regarding the company, no warranty information - all the usual things packaged with most products one purchases today online and elsewhere.
Because of how poorly constructed this wind chime is I'm surprised that it arrived intact. The wind chimes are very crudely constructed. The wood crossbar at the top is made of very cheap looking and feeling wood in sharp contrast to other manufacturers' polished and/or professionally looking wood pieces throughout. It's bad enough that cheap materials were used in the construction of the piece but the piece itself is poorly made. When I hung the chimes using cup holder hardware (which is how I hang most of my chimes outdoors) the aforementioned wood crosspiece could not be brought into parallel alignment with the ground no matter how much I tried to modify it. But that's not the point. Quality control seems to dictate that someone should take care of this important item before it is shipped to the customer. I've never had this problem with 15 other chimes of a variety of configurations that I own throughout my property..
So let's review everything here: Poor materials, poor construction, poor finishing, poor quality control and poor packaging add up to one inescapable conclusion - A rating of POOR. Several neighbors have noted this and even commented, "What's that thing doing up with all your other wind chimes?" I couldn't have said it better myself and those are words to live by. Amazon offers a great number of well made and fine sounding wind chimes. Alas, this is not one of them and I urge you to avoid this product.
*** Updated on 07/15/11: I recently noticed that Woodstock also sells this chime in its own catalog. Having had tremendous success with Woodstock products up until this one, all I can say is, "What were they thinking?!?" The Asli product is far below all the other "Woodstock" chimes I've purchased in terms of look, sound and overall presentation and delivery. Even with this Woodstock link in their catalog I don't change one thing I said about the Asli Arts offering in my review.

Beautiful Chimes Apr 19, 2011
By L. Brown
"I love to shop!"
These chimes are beautiful and have a really nice sound. They seem to be very delicate though so I would put them in a place where the wind isn't strong. Otherwise, the glass chimes will probably break. Great product for the price.
